Só um post muito rápido para reforçar a divulgação que recebi hoje via email. No âmbito das comemorações do World Graphics Day (WDG’10) o DeCA vai receber o Donato Ricci para uma conferência no auditório do Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica esta Quinta-feira, 06 de Maio pelas 10:30. Gostava mesmo muito de assistir, mas infelizmente vou estar a dar aulas… espero que alguém grave, ou, se alguém fizer um resumo ou comentário, deixem-me aqui o link para ver como foi! ;)

Donato Ricci, BIO

Donato Ricci is a researcher and senior designer at DensityDesignLab (http://www.densitydesign.org), where he carries out scientific researches, design project and teaching activities in the field of visual languages for complex decision making processes.

In 2005 he graduated in Communication and Industrial Design at Politecnico di Milano. In 2010 he obtained a PhD degree cum laude in Industrial Design and Multimedia Communication at Politecnico di Milano with the dissertation Seeing what they are saying: Diagrams for social complexity and controversies.

During the doctoral research he developed Turtle, an advanced prototype of a web-based platform for the visual exploration of socio-technical controversies. The platform, firstly applied to the observation of the remote control of dangerous goods transportation via road in Italy, is now tested to the TAV (Treno Alta Velocità) network, under the framework of the QVQC project (http://www.qualivelocitaqualecitta.com)

His works have been featured in several conferences and exhibition (the MediaLAB Prado – Visualizar08, the SIGGRAPH09 Conference, the VirginiaTech Educate09 Conference, the MIT Humanities + Digital Conference) and publication and showcases (Data Flow 2, Visual Complexity.com).
